Each ticket sold for the 2010 QEII Lifestyles Lottery is more than just a chance at winning one of the thousands of prizes being offered. It’s also an important building block for better health care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. This year, the QEII Lifestyles Lottery will be funding advancements in such areas as:
Arthroplasty – as our Nova Scotia population ages, arthroplasty surgeries like the replacement of knee and hip joints are on the rise. The 2010 QEII Lifestyles Lottery will help fund important arthroplasty research that will result in longer-lasting joint replacements and better patient outcomes.
Advanced Diagnostic Imaging – with the launch of Positron Emission Tomography at the QEII, caregivers are now able to better detect and diagnose illnesses such as cancer with 3-D imaging. The 2010 QEII Lifestyles Lottery will fund support systems and enhancements to Positron Emission Tomography so medical teams can make the best use of this advanced diagnostic imaging technology.
Neurosurgery – the QEII is the regional centre for neurosurgical care, treating Atlantic Canadians for everything from spinal cord injuries to brain tumours, neurological diseases and disorders. Funds from the 2010 QEII Lifestyles Lottery will assist with advancements in this critical care function.
